Understanding low testosterone:

Testosterone can decrease inherently with age, or can decrease as the result of a health problem. Typically, as men reach 30 years old, testosterone begins to decline by 1 to 2% every year. For reasons we do not yet understand, some men may be more susceptible to these declines than others. Recent studies indicate that up to 40% of men struggle with sub-optimal testosterone levels.

Symptoms of low testosterone can include:

  • Decreased libido
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Fatigue
  • Reduced muscle mass and strength
  • Increased body fat, particularly around the abdomen
  • Mood changes such as irritability and depression
  • Cognitive difficulties, including reduced concentration and memory issues
  • Disturbed sleep patterns, such as insomnia
  • or increased sleepiness
  • Reduced bone density
  • Diminished body hair growth

What’s “normal”? …
And what’s my “normal”?

Testosterone numbers from 300 all the way to 1000 can be listed by laboratories (and insurance companies) as “normal.” But if a 45-year-old man had a testosterone level of 600 two years ago and today has a level 350, those numbers may be technically “normal,” but is it really optimal? That man would likely be suffering from symptoms like fatigue, depression, weight gain, and sexual dysfunction. We look at your numbers and symptoms in depth to understand what’s going on for you specifically rather than reducing you to a set of test results or oversimplifying your experience.

What factors might
be at play?

In today’s dynamic era, men face unique challenges as our bodies undergo premature aging, losing strength and stamina year after year. There are several factors at play in addition to your hormones. Social media, YouTube, movies, and TV all encourage a sedentary lifestyle, and the exercise our bodies crave can dwindle away. Pair all that with environmental stressors, inadequate sleep, and subpar nutrition, and the result is a body lacking in energy, aging prematurely, susceptible to disease, and feeling constantly fatigued.

We don’t say any of this to judge—we understand the demands (and escapes) of modern adult life. We’ll craft holistic recommendations on diet, exercise, and stress management so your body can get on a better track in addition to treating any hormone issues.

Welcome to feeling better.

How Pinnacle works — without getting insurance involved.

We use a direct-care model that avoids the hassle and restriction of insurance, which means we can see patients as often as they need, take more time with them, and offer more thorough care. While we leave insurance out of the patient-doctor relationship, insurance still may cover your medications, or we may be able to connect you with coupons that keep the cost of medication to a minimum.
